I love to take pictures. I use a Canon PowerShot A80
and a Fuji FinePix S9100. I really like the Canon better,
but the photos it takes were not as large as I needed
them to print when I took the pictures for my book.
The Fuji has been a great, affordable option for me,
but I must confess I'm still in love with the Canon.
The Canon changed my life, because before I got it,
I really (really) did not like to take pictures.
Many hissies were had before I got the Canon. Many hissies
have been had since I got the Canon, but few
of them have to do with the camera. The Canon makes
everything look good.
I use a tripod and a two-second timer for every still-life
shot I take, and usually shoot in aperture-priority
mode at a fairly low f/stop (open aperture), using only
natural light. I use Photoshop to crop, resize, sharpen,
and color-correct all of the photos I post on my web
sites and blog. I am mostly self-taught in photography,
graphic design, and web development — I read whatever
I can stand to, but mostly I just experiment, and rely
on friends and relatives who will forgive me for asking.
I've written about my adventures in photography on
my blog
and I try (though I need to be better about this) to
archive my photos on my Flickr
page, where things can be organized nicely.
