I love to take pictures. I use a Canon PowerShot A80
and a Fuji FinePix S9100. I really like the Canon better,
but the photos it takes were not as large as I needed
them to print when I took the pictures for my book,
and I didn't have the money for a Canon digital SLR.
The Fuji has been a great, affordable option for me,
but I must confess I'm saving for a Canon EOS Rebel
XSi with a 100mm macro lens. Or asking Santa. Though
I doubt I've been good enough [sigh].
I use a tripod and a two-second timer for every still-life
shot I take, and usually shoot in aperture-priority
mode at a fairly low f/stop (open aperture), using only
natural light. I use Photoshop to crop, resize, sharpen,
and color-correct all of the photos I post on my web
sites and blog. I am mostly self-taught in photography,
graphic design, and web development — I read whatever
I can stand to, but mostly I just experiment, and rely
on friends and relatives who will forgive me for asking.
I've written about my adventures in photography on
my blog
and I try (though I need to be better about this) to
archive my photos on my Flickr
page, where things can be organized nicely.
